Our teaching staff has broad experience in instruction, competition, refereeing, and coaching.
We share a common curriculum based on the US Judo Federation rank requirements, starting with basic techniques and moving to advanced adaptation.
Instructors rotate every month so that students can receive a variety of perspectives on the art and sport of judo.
Tim began Judo in 1982 at Anchorage School of Judo. He was an active competitor at the National level until moving to Oregon in 2000. He remains actively involved at the National Level as a referee. Tim enjoys instructing both traditional and competitive Judo at Ojukan Judo Club.
Matt began judo at 10 years old for only a few months, but that fond memory led him to restart as an adult at Ojukan in 1998. He competed in the Pacific Northwest and earning his black belt in 2003. Matt has practiced judo in Israel, Malaysia, and Japan during his travel abroad. He continues to expand his experience in teaching, coaching, and kata.
Craig joined Ojukan in 2002 as a white belt and has been training with the club ever since. He was promoted to Shodan in 2009, Nidan in 2015, and Sandan in 2023. He enjoyed competing for about 8 years, but more than that, he has really enjoyed coaching the many students who come into the dojo every session.
