Folks:

There is an exciting opportunity coming up in July to attend a special
2-day clinic, hosted by Ojukan, to study Judo's venerable Nage No Kata.
This is an important and formalized set of forms designed to teach Judo
students basic skills needed for standing randori (sparring). All Judoka
need to learn and demonstrate this kata as part of the promotion
requirements for black belt, and it does take a while to learn. For older
students, this is an excellent form of skill development that doesn't
involve the same challenges as competition and can provide great value.

The Ojukan staff strongly encourages all members green belt and above to
attend this clinic and begin their practice of one of Juno's most popular
kata.

Ojukan Judo is proud to announce that we are hosting a 2-day intensive Nage
No Kata clinic, Saturday and Sunday, July 25th/26th 2015. The clinic will
be taught by two of the Pacific Northwest’s eminent instructors in Judo
kata forms: sensei’s Mike and Delynn Purcell. For background information
and details on Nage No Kata, you can download the official Kodokan text the
describes it:

clinic*)

Whether you are a long-time judoka who wishes to brush up on your kata
skills, an advanced competitive student seeking to get experience in kata
for the first time, or you are a black belt candidate completing promotion
requirements, Nage No Kata is the first and most common kata practiced by
Judo practitioners around the world. It is the first in the set of Randori
No Kata, kata designed to teach sparring principles in a precise and
controlled sequence of forms.
