Ojukan was founded by sensei Rene Leidelmeyer in 1967 and has been serving the greater Washington county community ever since.
Rene learned judo as a child during the Japanese occupation of Indonesia in World War II. He moved to Oregon after living and competing in Europe and for over fifty years cheerfully and tirelessly introduced hundreds of people to the joy of judo. Rene was promoted to Rokudan (6th degree black belt) in 2001. He passed away on September 18, 2023.
Ojukan staff continues sensei’s cheerful and patient style of judo instruction.
